2014: The Year in Review (and Preserving)

Well, I’m resolving (yet again)to blog more in the coming year. With a new job and a shorter commute!!, this resolution looks like it could be a reality (?).

But, first, let’s review what was popular in 2014. Yay for data! Like 2013, it’s the preserving posts that stand out. Last year, you were also into baking posts.

  1. Slow Cooker Vanilla Caramel Pear Butter: wins again!
  2. Slow Cooker Triple Chocolate Brownies: a dark horse (pun intended) makes an impressive showing.
  3. Slow Cooker Vanilla Rum Apple Butter: geez, the slow cooker is quite popular.
  4. Healthy Dark Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies: these were super good. Since they’re (allegedly) healthy, they can fit right in with your healthy 2015 resolutions.
  5. Slow Cooker Spiced Maple Pumpkin Butter: boo, I forgot to make this again in 2014.

Even with all the work travel last year, I still managed to make 42 varieties and nearly 250 jars of preserves — mostly smaller batches. Should I be embarrassed or proud? Both?

Looks like you had a fabulously productive canning year! Look forward to reading about more creations in 2015.

Lynn, me too! It was all I could do NOT to preserve today. Trying to be patient for better fruit.

Your 2014 canning roundup is impressive! Marisa of Food in Jars has an amazing recipe for pickled cranberries, if you’re looking for a new wintertime project. I’m feeling newly inspired to do some canning in 2015, thanks!

Rachel, thanks! I’m currently hoarding cranberries and love pickles! I wonder what pickled cranberries taste like.
